Feeding Your Dog: Puppy to Senior

Feeding your dog isn’t just about filling a bowl. It’s about giving them the energy, nutrition, and love they need to thrive at every stage of life. Whether you’ve just brought home a bouncy little pup or you’re caring for a sweet senior, here’s what you need to know about feeding your dog well.

Puppy (0–12 months)

Puppies grow fast, and they need a lot of support during this stage. Their food should be packed with protein, fat, and essential nutrients to fuel all that zooming around. Most puppies do best with three to four small meals a day. It may feel like a lot, but their tiny tummies process food quickly.

Adult Dog (1–7 years)

By adulthood, your dog’s diet is more about maintenance than growth. Two meals a day usually works best. You’ll want a balanced formula that supports energy, digestion, coat health, and muscle tone, especially if your dog is active or enjoys long walks.

Senior Dog (7+ years)

Senior dogs often slow down, and their diet should slow down with them. Older dogs may need fewer calories but more support for joints, digestion, and brain health. You might also notice them being pickier or struggling with chewing.

Helpful Tips for Every Age

Every dog is unique, and their feeding needs can change based on lifestyle, breed, and health. If you’re unsure about what’s best, don’t hesitate to ask your vet for guidance — especially if you’re noticing sudden weight changes or digestive issues.
